How to Prepare for JAMB UTME: An 8-Week Study Plan
By the PassSpark team · 2026-10-22 · JAMB, Study plan
JAMB rewards students who are fast, accurate and calm. Reading your textbooks alone rarely builds that. This plan mixes revision with timed practice so that by exam day the question styles feel familiar.
Step 1: Get the official details first
Check JAMB's official website for the current syllabus, subject combination for your course and the exam format for your year. Rules can change between years, so never rely on an old forum post for the number of questions or the scoring.
Step 2: Split the 8 weeks
- Weeks 1 to 3, learn: go through each subject's syllabus topic by topic. After each topic, answer 10 to 15 questions on only that topic.
- Weeks 4 to 6, practise by year: pick one year at a time for each subject and answer the full set. Mark it, then read every explanation, including the ones you got right.
- Weeks 7 to 8, simulate: do full timed sessions that copy the exam: all four subjects, one sitting, no pausing.
Step 3: Keep a weak-topic list
Every wrong answer goes on a list with the topic name. Each weekend, re-do questions from your three weakest topics. This single habit usually gains more marks than extra hours of random reading.
Step 4: Train for the computer
JAMB is computer based. Practise on a screen, not only on paper, so reading questions on a monitor and clicking answers feels natural. Practise your timing: if a question takes more than a minute, flag it and move on.
Step 5: The last 3 days
Stop learning new topics. Review your weak-topic list, sleep well, and prepare your documents and route to the centre.
You can practise any subject and any year on PassSpark, starting from JAMB practice questions. Note that PassSpark questions are original practice questions in the style of past papers, not official JAMB papers.
