1. Two angles of a triangle are 55 degrees and 65 degrees. What is the third angle?
  1. 60 degrees
  2. 50 degrees
  3. 70 degrees
  4. 65 degrees

Answer: A. 60 degrees

The angles in a triangle sum to 180 degrees, so the third angle is 180 - 55 - 65 = 60 degrees.

2. A cylinder has radius 3 cm and height 7 cm. Find its volume, using pi = 22/7.
  1. 189 cm^3
  2. 198 cm^3
  3. 208 cm^3
  4. 218 cm^3

Answer: B. 198 cm^3

The volume is pi times r^2 times h = (22/7) times 9 times 7 = 198 cm^3.

3. Find the median of the scores 4, 9, 2, 7 and 8.
  1. 6
  2. 8
  3. 7
  4. 9

Answer: C. 7

In ascending order the scores are 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, so the middle value is 7.

4. A bag contains 5 red, 3 blue and 2 green counters. If one counter is chosen at random, what is the probability that it is not blue?
  1. 3/10
  2. 1/2
  3. 4/5
  4. 7/10

Answer: D. 7/10

There are 7 non-blue counters out of 10 counters altogether, giving a probability of 7/10.

5. Point P has coordinates (-2, 1) and point Q has coordinates (4, -3). What is the vector from P to Q?
  1. (6, -4)
  2. (-6, 4)
  3. (2, -2)
  4. (4, -6)
